CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation is the first Quebec health organization to receive official accreditation from the Imagine Canada Standards program

Montreal, November 14th, 2014 – On the occasion of National Philanthropy Day, on November 15th, CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation is proud to announce that it has received accreditation from the Imagine Canada Standards program.

The primary goal of this program is to shed light on best practices, good governance, and transparency in philanthropy in order to meet increasing expectations, as far as accountability and transparency are concerned within charitable organizations, and help strengthen confidence with donors.

« It was important for our Board of Directors and for the employees of our Foundation to receive this seal of approval from Imagine Canada. This distinction acknowledges the fact that CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation puts forward best practices », declared Mrs. Anièle Lecoq, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. « It’s a thorough assessment process and we’re extremely proud to be the first organization in the Quebec health industry to have received this distinction» did she add.

It was in May 2012 that Imagine Canada inaugurated its standards program, one of the firsts of its kind in the country. The accreditation is awarded to charitable and non-profit organizations which display excellence in the following five key areas:

  • Board of Directors’ governance;
  • Financial responsibility and transparency;
  • Ethical fundraising;
  • Personnel management; and
  • volunteer participation.
