When will I receive an income tax receipt? |

We do everything necessary so that you receive your income tax receipt within two weeks after we receive your donation. However, more time may be required at peak periods like Christmas or Easter. But rest assured, if you make a donation before December 31, you will receive a receipt for that year. If you are among the donors who make monthly donations through preauthorized payments on your credit card or by cheque, you will receive a single income tax receipt for the total annual amount of your donations, on or about January 31 each year. |

Are all donations tax deductible? |

Yes, whatever the amount. The Foundation's policy is to issue an income tax receipt systematically for donations of $20 or more. A receipt will be issued on request for donations under $20. |

Expenses represent what percentage of the Foundation's income? |

As stated in our mission, our goal is to turn as much money as possible over to the Hôpital Sainte-Justine. To do so, we must devote effort and financial resources to reach the donors, solicit donations and thank them for their generous support. We must also manage the amounts that are entrusted to us. Consequently, our expenses represent 10 percent of our income, one of the lowest expense rates among philanthropic institutions in Québec. |

Can I give toys or presents for the sick children? |

We are touched by such kind-heartedness, but due to the real needs at Sainte-Justine's in order to offer sick children healthcare on a par with the best practices in the world, we invite you to make donations of money. Such donations make a real difference in the lives of the little patients. Thank you! |

Can I trust people going door to door in the name of the Foundation or the hospital and make a donation to them? |

No. The Foundation does not authorize this type of soliciting under any circumstances. However, the sale of chocolate, T-shirts or other promotional items carrying the official logo of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation guarantees that your donations will go to the Foundation. This is also true for specially marked donation containers at the checkout in retail businesses. |
