When will I receive my income tax receipt?

We will send you an income tax receipt within two weeks of receiving your donation. Allow more time during busy holiday periods (e.g., Christmas and Easter).

If you make a donation before December 31, you will be issued a receipt for that fiscal year. If you make monthly donations via preauthorized cheque or credit card payments, you will receive a single income tax receipt for the total annual amount of your donations before January 31 each year.

Are all donations tax-deductible?

The Foundation automatically issues an income tax receipt for donations of $20 and more. You may request a receipt for donations of less than $20.

What percentage of the Foundation’s income is spent on operating costs?

Our expenses are approximately 10% of our income—one of the lowest ratios among philanthropic organizations in North America.

Can I donate toys or gifts to children who are hospitalized at Sainte-Justine?

We’re always very grateful for caring gestures toward the children. However, because of their fragile state of health, some toys cannot be accepted. All gifts must be approved by Sainte-Justine UHC.

We prefer cash donations, since they allow us to ensure the children receive one of the best levels of healthcare in the world.

Can I give to a person doing to door-to-door fundraising for the Foundation or hospital?

Under no circumstances does the Foundation authorize this type of fundraising. However, proceeds from the sale of chocolate bars, T-shirts or promotional items bearing the official logo of Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation will be sent to the Foundation. The same goes for specially identified coin boxes at many retail check-out counters.
